About Us

Zone 4 was founded in 2001 by Cornell University graduates, Bill Pollock and Dylan Johns. Their firm is a boutique architecture studio based in Aspen, Colorado, specializing in modern and traditional Mountain Architecture. While the majority of their projects are located in the Aspen area, good design aesthetics transcend the region, and thus Zone 4 Architects is currently involved with residential projects in East Hampton, NY and Scottsdale, AZ.

Our Process

Design

There is an old adage which states that great design would not exist without great clients. And thus Zone 4 Architects prides itself in the collaborative between the architect, client and builder. Z4A’s collection of work demonstrates their sense of proportion, scale and use of material ranging from the ultra modern to the traditional alpine vernacular.

Construction

Z4A’s experience and construction knowledge has created a reputation of working closely with the builder and providing a comprehensive set of Construction Documents. Z4A is proactive with involving the Builder at the initial stages of the project. Early input and advice from the builder regarding assembly, materials and cost savings of the project allow Z4A to focus on the essential details and drawings.

The symbolic meaning of number 4 deals with stability and invokes the grounded nature of all things. Consider the four seasons, four directions, four elements.  4 represents solidity, style, place, and home.
